Changing your Australian Licence to a Greek Driving Licence
An Australian driving licence may be converted to a Greek licence by application to a local transport office of the Greek Ministry of Transport (210 650-8000). No driving test is required.
The application must include the Australian driver's licence (which must be valid at the time of application) and be submitted with the following documents and fees:
- An official translation, issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a certified lawyer, of the Australian driving licence
- A certificate issued by the Greek Embassy or a Consulate in Australia verifying that the licence is genuine
- A photocopy of the applicant's Greek identification card (for Greek citizen) or residence permit (for non-citizen). Note that the residence permit must have been issued at least six months prior to the application
- Health certificates from a pathologist and an optometrist
- Two passport-size colour photographs
- Fees - A receipt for 58 Euro from the National Bank of Greece showing a deposit to the "Special Account of ND 538/70", plus an application fee of 3 Euro, plus a licence processing fee of 18 Euro. Note that these fees are subject to change.
The application takes several days to process. The Australian licence is held on file at the transport office until the former holder is leaving Greece and returns the Greek licence.
